A Safe Place of Restoration

A Safe Place of Restoration

When Sebastian* joined HopeSeed School (one of our child sponsorship sites) last year, he arrived unexpectedly, bursting with uncontrollable energy. He had a hard time sitting still and would often hit his peers without a reason. Staff soon found out that Sebastian was asked to leave his previous school and that he was mistreated there. At HopeSeed School, the teachers recognized that Sebastian’s behavior stemmed from a place of pain. They gently explained to him with words and actions that no one was here to hurt him.

During a Bible class, Sebastian opened up about his past experience being bullied by both peers and teachers who called him “stupid”. He also shared that his parents were battling drug and alcohol addictions, creating a challenging life at home. The school staff continually cared for him through these difficulties, and over time, Sebastian learned that he is valued and loved. In response, he started greeting his teachers with warm hugs and cheerful hellos. His transformation was so noticeable that his parents later expressed their gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much. He’s not the same child he used to be.”

We praise God for our faithful child sponsors and dedicated school staff around the world who make stories like Sebastian's possible. Through their generosity and love, children are experiencing healing, hope, and the life-changing love of Jesus!
