Continuing-Ed Workshops Connect Faith and Teaching

TeachBeyond’s continuing-education workshops are expanding in Africa. In February, our partner school, Haven of Peace Academy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, hosted a two-day Tanzanian Christian Educators Conference.

Two members of TeachBeyond's Teacher Education Services team, along with two TeachBeyond associates, traveled to Dar to provide workshops and training to over 60 teachers from two Christian schools. They discussed themes of transformational education and looked at four key threads that impact professional and transformational impact in the classroom: critical thinking, reaching English language learners, community and collaboration, and active student engagement.

The teachers engaged deeply with the content and came away with several new ideas and tools to implement in their classrooms in the coming days. The best part was seeing the teachers begin to make tangible connections between their faith and their classroom practices.
