Ministering to Refugees in Greece

Pray for the TeachBeyond short-term team on the Greek island of Lesvos this summer.

Elizabeth Steggal-Lewis reports:

“We've had to jump right in due to the loss of a partner and change of plans. That meant there is so much to do in such a short amount of time. We've had some wonderful times of group prayer already and I'd love us to do more. Pray we will be able to prioritize prayer in this time of busyness.

I feel the need for our team to get more rest and slow the pace, continuing to trust the doors God has opened. Pray we can do this while still getting those things done we need to do.

We were amazed for being able to organize four important meetings in our first three days. God providentially has worked this out. During our second meeting with two women I had reached out to during my last week in the States, the man standing in for the director of Euro Relief (the group that runs the refugee camp) just happened to walk by the cafe where we were meeting. They called him over to talk to us. He sat and had a drink and talked for a long time into the night. He was really excited about what we wanted to do and has now opened the door to trying to make it possible to run our kids’ program in the Moria camp in July!

That morning we'd read Mark Batterson devotional chapter 1 – ‘Don't worry about meeting the right people. If you meet with God, God will make sure you meet the right people at the right time. After all there is nobody He doesn't know.’

This was a divine appointment. This man has already taken our proposal and is trying to organize a meeting for us with the commander at Camp Moria! Please pray for favour and an open door, and take time to thank God for this man, Christos.

Talk about seeing your prayer come to life!

Pray for a peace that flows in and through us, and great trust in God."
