My Experience Serving with TeachBeyond in Belize

I've always enjoyed geography and studying maps and flags of countries, but it wasn't until the TeachBeyond conference in October 2023 that I truly learned about Belize.  

Through some very engaging conversations that took place there, we saw the opportunity for the camp ministry to enhance the transformative education already happening at Belize Christian Academy. Together with Scott and Patsy Buhler, a wonderful couple with extensive camp experience (Brazil Quest Ministry staff), we had the humble mission of sharing with the Belize team what God has been doing through camps in Brazil and offering tools to help them live out this experience as well. 

We had an intense week of training with the leadership and volunteers, developing the heart of what would become "Camp Eagle" (the chosen name for the initiative) and seeking God's direction to bless the campers who would come. 

Following that, we had our week with teenagers, where we witnessed growth in various areas of their lives—socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Around the campfire and in small group discussions, many were able to open up about their conflicts and be supported and heard. 

To conclude, we had a week of day camps with children, filled with boundless energy. With a deep and crazy story about a royal birthday party, the children were taught about the joy and power that comes from desiring the same things our King desires. 

Despite all the challenges that come with new beginnings and cultural exchanges, we saw God's hand bringing supernatural unity and a singular focus during the activities. It was a joy to be part of another small piece of God's Kingdom being built here on earth for eternity.
