Waiting on God in the Early Days

Academic building in GramadoI recall many times God provided for the needs we faced from the very beginning. At that time, many people came to Christ through the evangelistic meetings in Germany. Given this encouraging response to the gospel, we were invited to minister in Brazil. God blessed the work there, too.

After much time praying and asking God for guidance and trusting Him for our finances, we hired staff and began building a ministry center in Gramado, Brazil (about 1500 Kms/900 miles south of Rio de Janeiro).

Leo JanzDuring evangelistic meetings in Switzerland in November of 1979, Leo Janz shared the vision and opportunity God had given us in Brazil. He also shared that the work on the center/academic building had to stop because we did not have funds to complete construction. (The camp ministry, evangelism and music ministry continued on uninterrupted).

While the meetings were still in progress, our bank notified us that someone had just transferred the equivalent of 263,750.00 Swiss Francs to our account. It was the exact amount we needed and in true Swiss style, the giver did not even leave his name at the bank!

Over many decades, God has used this anonymous gift in a mighty way to bring people to Himself. And it is a good reminder to us today, that God will provide for us and use us as we faithfully spread the Gospel through Christian teachers sent all over the globe.
